AP-4
Posted by Briantee on Mar 1st 2016
I have been around ARs since 1970 when I enlisted in the army. In 22 years I grew accoustimed to wobbly action in issued weapons. I initially noticed how tight the parts were-gee it was new. The AP-4 shoots well. I have encountered FTFand FTE but it was the ammo not the weapon. Only issue is the retainer pin holding the firing pin in place. Never had a problem in the army but I found out by word and practice you need yo find the "sweet spit" to get it in place. That being said my grandson in the NG had no problem assembling and disassembling the weapon. Guess I am just getting old!

Operates perfectly, not a good option for mods
Posted by Kamijedi on Jun 29th 2015
I broke it in as recommended. Put a few hundred more rounds afterwards using Magpul mags. No problems what so ever. Replacing the muzzle break is easy but the spacer ring would not come off forcing me to buy a spacer kit. Castle nut is pinned and I broke an armorers tool but eventually got it going and put a Magpul ambi single point sling on. The handle/sight is not great but is easily replaceable. Trigger is also lacking.

Needed good break-in, but very happy with it
Posted by Mike in Virginia on Jul 27th 2011
I received the rifle, cleaned it, and lightly lubed it with Break Free from the outside. Action felt a little rough. Fired 20 rounds; no problems. Stopped and cleaned it as recommended. Reloaded same magazine. but immediately got failures to eject and failures to strip rounds up into the chamber. Removed bolt carrier; found moving parts in it needed lubing. Sprayed it down with Break Free, wiped it down, now works great! Followed rest of break-in procedure for 100 rounds, then cleaned it again and fired 20 more(all SS 109,62 grain). Wife even agrees this thing looks BAADDD, and she’s not even into guns!

Fantastic AR platform, for beginners or pros alike
Posted by Sid on Nov 14th 2010
I purchased this rifle a little while back from a gun show and have really enjoyed using it. With the stock barrel it’s reasonably accurate for target practice, varmint hunting, or whatever else you may be wanting to do with a 16" barrel.
IMHO the stock iron sights kind of suck, but they get the job done. I’d also highly recommend springing for some nice teflon coated mags with magpul followers, as the stock mags will really love jamming up on you.
Good piece of kit, great price.

DPMS Panther Carbine Growls
Posted by Povertyfighter on Nov 14th 2010
Right from the box this baby rocks. After the first 10 rounds down range she was hitting 1" groups and 100 yards on an open sight. Easy to use and hard to abuse the DPMS Panther takes a real world beating and comes back to repeat the original groupings after a couple of hundred rounds being hauled around in the rain and brush hunting for things to shoot at in the woods. You can buy a more expensive AR-15 type rifle and get much less than this one. A very economical varment rifle for all of the varments that bother your herd.
