Perfect for Home Defense

Posted by Dylan Stone on Oct 5th 2012

I’m going to start with the "Bad" and keep it real with you. When I first purchased my 870 I took it to the range, I shot two shells of Hordany 00 buck and on the second shot it had a failure to extract. I had to literally take it apart in the middle of the range and get that spent shell out of the barrel. It would not pry out and I had to stick a rod down the barrel and hit that shell out. After that I put it back together and kept firing, I shot about 50 shells and each tube full of ammo the same thing would happen aleast twice. I’m getting very annoyed at this point so I decide to try it one last time, shot it once, and the front sight flew off. Yes, I swear to god, I spent a good hour trying to find it after it flew off my weapon. I’m beyond mad at this point. I bought a Remington for a reason, not for this. I took it back and it was fixed within two days, the milled out a little bit of the barrel so the shell would fit in better and put in a new shell extractor. All free of charge, which it had better of been or I was going straight to Remington.

Now with the good stuff. I love this shotgun, it’s perfect for what I use it for. Now I know I probably jut got a "bad" 870 but these shotguns really are quality and I would buy another.

Nice Features for a HD Shotgun

The 870 speaks for itself. I was pleasantly surprised by the picatinny rail and ghost ring sights. They really work well with this weapon system. The only drawback is that you have to be very careful reassembling the weapon because the two piece extended mag tends to catch the follower at the seam between the two pieces. This stops the follower removing all pressure on the shells and leaving you with a single shot pump gun.
