Cheap, dependable, and accurate

PROS: Inexpensive, dependable, and accurate. I shot 50 rounds through each of 3 handguns today at 30-35 feet to qualify for my concealed carry permit and the HP22a produced the tightest group. Could be because the others were a 2″ 38 special and the other a Kahr cw9 (9mm). But I was really pleased with that and this is the cheapest of the three. It’s easy to shoot, being a 22.

CONS: 1.Redundant safeties which prevent the rack from being pulled fully back unless the magazine isIN the gun, which makes it different from the typical semi-auto gun, and compromises safety, IMO. YouTube has a couple fixes for that which a lot of people follow.

The gun is not easy to disassemble for cleaning of the slide barrel pin. The recoil spring pops out and flies out of site easily. (I never found my first one and had to order extras). However watching some YouTube videos and taking notes made it easier when I went to replace the spring). However, you don’t need to disassemble all that often if you clean the barrel and chamber area regularly.

All in all, it’s about my favorite gun (after the safety modifications) and I’ll probably buy another one in time.

Great little 22

I purchased this to teach my 10 and 13 year old daughters to shoot. It is the perfect size for them. They were able to handle it easily and safely. I like all the safety features on it as well. We ran about 200 rounds of thunderbolt shells through it with not a single misfire. I highly recommend this pistol for any new shooters as well and anyone just wanting to target shoot.

This is turning into my favorite carry. I figure if 10 rounds of 20LR does stop an attack I need to be heading down the road.

I would recommend this pistol to anyone. I keep one in my bug out bag. There are a few mods I have done to mine to make it easier to use. They all pertain to the safety. Accurate and dependable, what else can you ask for the price.

I just got the gun yesterday I fired twenty rounds through it stoped firing reset safety I fired another seventeen rounds through it know problems I would purchase again very accurate gun

Better Than Expected

After waiting for 4 month for a Phoenix Arms HP22 to show up at Florida Guns in Ogden, I finely got one this week.

These handguns are hard to find.

The low price for a very good quality handgun doesn’t let production keep up with demand.

I looked at a lot of You tube videos about the HP22 before ordering one.

Almost all the reviews were very good.

I took mine home and cleaned out the excessive oil and packing grease and then put a very light coat of oil on the moving parts.

Took it back to the Florida Guns Range yesterday.

Ran about 150 rounds through it.

I had read reports of the gun being picky about what ammo it liked.

Ran some Remington Golden Bullets, Federal Bulk CCI Mini Mags, Winchester 222 M&P, Remington Thunderbolts and Federal Auto Match.

The gun didn’t like the Federal Auto Match at all. Failure to feed was the problem. Possibly due to low powder charge in the match grade rounds.

Other than the problem with the Federal Auto Match, the gun ran flawlessly.

I did make the safety modifications that are recommended on You Tube.

They made sense to me. Now the gun acts like my other auto handguns.

I highly recommend this handgun to anyone that wants a reliable and inexpensive 22.

Love this gun only it didn’t shoot federal bulk pack, but my rifle didn’t fire either so it must have been the ammo but overall love this handgun sooooooooooooooooooo much and recommend everyone should get one

Great "little" gun for starters…

This is my first handgun and it seems to be handling well. Only problems, (which is due to needing to shoot more to break it in), is it didn’t reject the empty casing a couple of times real well, but other than that, very pleased with it. I haven’t tried any other ammo except the American Eagle brand, but do have some in the wings waiting. I would recommend this handgun for anyone that is starting out so as just to get the feel of one in your hand. My 11 year old son handle this gun very well.

this has got to be the best .22 out there, got mine at a gun show last sunday for 140.00 new, right out of the box she shot 3 mags fine i even tried to make it jam by loading it with diffent ammo an shooting it fast but she kelp on trucking, i shot the federal bulk,winchester bulk, reminton bulk with was very old but still shot it fine.The only ammo i thinks it going to have problems with is the cci mini mag i tried to load it up but it has some kinda wax on it dont know if it going to shoot well
